Freetrade Withdrawal Fee: When the £5 Charge Applies

Freetrade charges nothing for a standard withdrawal and £5 for a same-day withdrawal (as of August 2026). The fee is entirely optional: it buys speed, not access to your money. If you can wait for the standard transfer, withdrawing from Freetrade costs nothing.

Standard is free, same-day is £5

The structure is simple and worth understanding before you press the button. A standard withdrawal carries no charge at all. A same-day withdrawal costs £5, and that is the only withdrawal-related fee Freetrade publishes. This makes the fee avoidable by default rather than something you have to plan around: unless you specifically need the money to land today, the free route is the one you will use. The £5 is a flat amount rather than a percentage, so it is proportionally punishing on a small withdrawal and negligible on a large one. If you need cash quickly and the sum is modest, waiting is usually the better call.

The Freetrade cost that matters more

For most Freetrade users the significant number is the FX fee on non-GBP trades, and it varies by plan: 0.99% on Basic, 0.59% on Standard at £5.99 a month, and 0.39% on Plus at £11.99 a month. That plan structure means the cheapest option depends on how much you trade in foreign currency — a heavy US-share buyer can save more in FX than the subscription costs, while an occasional buyer is better off on Basic. Commission is £0 on all UK and US stocks, ETFs and investment trusts across every plan, and there is no added spread markup, so FX conversion is the main dealing cost on foreign shares.

How Freetrade compares on withdrawals

Charging for speed rather than for access is a middle position in this market. Trading 212, Capital.com, DEGIRO, Revolut, AvaTrade and Plus500 charge nothing at all, with no fast-transfer upsell. At the other end, eToro charges $5 on every USD-account withdrawal with a $30 minimum, Webull charges $25 for a wire and $75 to transfer an account out, and Robinhood charges 1.75% for an instant withdrawal plus $100 to move the account elsewhere. Interactive Brokers allows one free withdrawal per calendar month and charges after that. Freetrade's £5 only bites if you choose the fast option, which puts it closer to the free group than the charging one (as of August 2026).

The bottom line

Freetrade's withdrawal fee is opt-in: free unless you want the money the same day, then £5. The number that should drive your choice is the FX rate on your plan tier.
