Robinhood Inactivity Fee: Does It Charge for a Dormant Account?
Robinhood charges no inactivity fee. There is no monthly, quarterly or annual dormancy charge, and no minimum trading activity you need to maintain (as of August 2026). An account can hold positions or cash indefinitely without being billed for inactivity.

No dormancy charge and no activity requirement
Robinhood's published schedule contains no inactivity fee under any condition. There is no login requirement to reset a timer, no minimum number of trades per period, and no commission threshold that triggers a maintenance charge if you fall below it. For an investor buying a position and leaving it alone, this means the cost of holding does not depend on how often you open the app. That is the behaviour most people assume they are getting and do not always receive: several brokers in this market do still bill dormant accounts, and the amounts are not small.
The Robinhood charges that do exist
Robinhood's costs sit on specific actions rather than on holding. Commission is $0 on US stocks, ETFs and options, with crypto available in the US only, and the platform runs a payment-for-order-flow model with tight spreads. Standard bank and ACH withdrawals are free, but an instant withdrawal costs 1.75% in the US and transferring your account out to another broker costs $100. On currency, US accounts pay nothing since they are USD-only; UK accounts pay 0.10% FX on GBP/USD conversion on weekdays, rising to 0.30% from Friday 17:00 ET to Sunday 17:00 ET and on US public holidays. That weekday UK rate is among the lowest available.
Where Robinhood sits against the market
Zero inactivity fees are now the majority position. Trading 212, Freetrade, InvestEngine, Revolut, Webull, DEGIRO, Capital.com and Interactive Brokers all charge nothing, and eToro removed its fee in 2026. The exceptions are worth naming because they are expensive: AvaTrade charges $50 per quarter after three months idle plus $100 a year in administration after twelve months; Plus500 charges up to $10 a month after three months without a login; XTB charges EUR 10 a month after 365 days with no trade and no deposit in the prior 90 days, with ISA accounts and open positions exempt. Robinhood is firmly in the no-charge group (as of August 2026).
The bottom line
Robinhood has no inactivity fee, so holding costs nothing. The charges to plan around are the 1.75% instant withdrawal and the $100 account transfer out, both of which are avoidable.
