DEGIRO Commission: What a Trade Really Costs by Market
DEGIRO charges a €1 handling fee per trade on top of commission, which works out at €2 total on US exchanges, €3 on the Irish home market, €4.90 on London, Euronext, XETRA, Swiss and Nordic exchanges, and €6 on Australia, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. ETFs cost €3, or €1 handling only for the Core Selection under a fair-use policy (as of August 2026).

The cost depends heavily on which market you trade
DEGIRO's pricing varies by venue more than most brokers, and the spread between the cheapest and dearest is wide enough to change where you buy. US exchanges are the cheapest developed market at €2 per trade all in. The Irish home market is €3. London, Euronext, XETRA, Swiss and Nordic exchanges cost €4.90 — nearly two and a half times the US rate for the same size of order. Australia, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo are €6. For an investor who buys the same global ETF listed on multiple exchanges, choosing the listing venue thoughtfully is worth real money over time.
The ETF Core Selection is the cheapest route
ETFs cost €3 in general, but the ETF Core Selection carries only the €1 handling fee, subject to a fair-use policy. That makes a Core Selection ETF the least expensive way to trade at DEGIRO by a clear margin — a third of the standard ETF cost. The fair-use policy is the condition to understand: it exists to stop the free-commission structure being used for very frequent trading, so a normal buy-and-hold or monthly-contribution pattern is fine while heavy churn may not be. If you are building a portfolio at DEGIRO specifically for cost, starting from the Core Selection list rather than picking an ETF first and checking price later is the right order of operations.
Two extras that do not appear in the headline
Commission is not the whole cost. AutoFX currency conversion adds a 0.25% mark-up whenever a trade settles in a currency other than your account's, and the manual alternative costs €10 plus 0.25%. Separately, a connectivity fee of €2.50 per calendar year per exchange applies for each exchange you trade or hold outside your home market, capped at 0.25% of account value, with US options and futures billed at €5.00 per month instead. Neither is charged on your home market, the Irish Stock Exchange, Tradias OTC or the ETF Core Selection. Against that, DEGIRO publishes €0 for inactivity, custody, deposit and withdrawal fees, so the model concentrates cost at the point of dealing rather than on holding.
The bottom line
DEGIRO is cheap on US trades at €2 and mid-priced on European exchanges at €4.90. The Core Selection ETFs at €1 handling are the best value on the platform; factor in 0.25% AutoFX and the per-exchange connectivity fee before concluding it is cheap for you.
