Scalable Capital Fees: FREE vs PRIME+ Broker, and What Changed in September 2026

Scalable Capital has two plans. The FREE Broker costs nothing a month and charges €0.99 per trade, with PRIME ETF purchases of €250 or more free. The PRIME+ Broker costs €4.99 a month and makes every trade of €250 or more free. Both discounts apply only on Scalable's own venue, the European Investor Exchange (EIX): since 1 September 2026, every order on gettex or Xetra costs a flat €1.99 on both plans. Savings plans are free on both.

Order fees on each venue

Scalable routes orders through three venues, and the price depends on which one you use. On the European Investor Exchange, a purchase of €250 or more in a PRIME ETF (any ETF from Amundi, iShares, Vanguard or Xtrackers) is free on both plans. Any other trade of €250 or more, a single share or a non-PRIME ETF, costs €0.99 on FREE and nothing on PRIME+. Any trade under €250 costs €0.99 on both. On gettex and on Xetra, every order costs €1.99 regardless of plan, size or product, and Scalable waives the separate trading-venue fee on Xetra. Savings plans cost €0 on both plans from a €1 savings amount.

What changed on 1 September 2026

Until 31 August 2026, gettex behaved like EIX: €0.99 a trade, and free above the €250 threshold. From 1 September it costs a flat €1.99 on both plans, with no threshold. Xetra moved the other way, from €3.99 plus 0.01% of the order (minimum €1.50) plus venue fees, down to a flat €1.99 with the venue fee waived. The practical effect is that the free trading both plans advertise now exists only on EIX. If your orders default to gettex, a PRIME ETF purchase that used to be free now costs €1.99. One thing to be aware of: as of 26 September 2026, Scalable's own PRIME+ product page still describes gettex as free from €250 and Xetra at €3.99 plus a venue fee. The price list is what you are actually charged under, and it shows €1.99 for both.

When PRIME+ pays for itself

PRIME+ costs €4.99 a month, €59.88 a year. What it buys on the trading side is one thing: free trades of €250 or more on EIX in products that are not PRIME ETFs, where FREE charges €0.99. PRIME ETF purchases of €250 or more are already free on FREE, and orders under €250 cost €0.99 on both plans. So the trading break-even is simple arithmetic: €59.88 divided by €0.99 is about 61 qualifying trades a year, or roughly five a month. An investor who buys PRIME ETFs through savings plans or in lumps of €250 or more gets nothing from PRIME+ on trading. Someone buying individual shares several times a month on EIX in sizes above €250 does. PRIME+ also lowers the crypto ETP spread surcharge from 0.99% to 0.69% and the instant-deposit fee from 0.99% to 0.69%, and spreads your cash across up to five banks for up to 5 x €100,000 of statutory deposit protection.

Interest on cash

Scalable pays 2.60% a year, variable, on unlimited cash held in its Overnight account, on both plans. Cash left sitting in the broker account itself earns 0%, so the rate only applies to money you move into the Overnight account. How the cash is held differs by plan. On PRIME+ it is allocated across Scalable and partner banks with statutory deposit guarantees. On FREE it can also be placed in qualifying money market funds, which are UCITS-regulated fund investments rather than bank deposits.

The other costs

There is no custody fee, no account fee on the FREE plan and no inactivity fee. Withdrawals to your linked bank account are free. Instant deposits cost 0.99% on FREE and 0.69% on PRIME+, but only on the first €5,000; every euro above that is free, and an ordinary bank transfer costs nothing. Crypto ETPs carry a spread surcharge of 0.99% on FREE and 0.69% on PRIME+. Product costs such as ETF ongoing charges and market spreads apply on top, as they do at every broker.

The bottom line

For most savers the FREE Broker is the right plan: PRIME ETF purchases from €250 and all savings plans cost nothing. PRIME+ earns its €4.99 a month only for frequent share traders on EIX. Whichever plan you choose, route orders to the European Investor Exchange: since September 2026, gettex and Xetra cost €1.99 on every order.
